I've been looking through my past features and coverages during this past week and realized how horrible I was with editing. I'm sure many of you guys who are into photography know exactly what I'm talking about  and I'm pretty positive some of you guys looked through my site wasn't pleased with some the photography part of Night Import. Don't worry, I won't hate you (^_^) Well, to make things better, I'm re-working on all of those photos, such as the set on Carl's IS. Today, I'm going to reintroduce Daniel Spielman's twin-turbo 350Z from Team Hybrid. There will be no descriptions on any of the mods or so because his ride has already been featured last year. Along with the official Scion FR-S on display was another FR-S modified by GReddy. I'm pretty sure a lot of people who attended this special event had no clue about this one because it's pretty uncommon to see a newly introduced car in the states already having aftermarket parts to it. Introducing the TRD Toyota 86 in Japan is a different story because that's an actual package offered by Toyota, but this one was really unexpected. I'm speculating GReddy was the first aftermarket company to work on this car because there were several parts on this FR-S that were more than just simple.

Managing my own personal blog for a year now led me to so many situations and through those situations, accomplishing goals within this scene. It might sound awkward to some of you guys when I say the word goal, but seeing so many different events occurring in a community, there are things you really want to see a change, such as improvements in certain fields of the automotive industry or giving some spotlight to those who deserve it. My intentions were straightforward when I created Night Import and so far, I have to say I've been doing a pretty darn good job. Naw, I don't think I'm being cocky at all because I still have a long way to go and lack the knowledge in many parts of this field, but looking through how I spent my past year in the car scene, there were times when I said to myself "Wow..serious?" because of feeling honored or just thrilled.

Few months ago when Bulletproof Automotive contacted me to be the main Media for their upcoming meet, I felt as if what I've been working for came to a point where it was all worth it.
Bulletproof is known for being a distributor of Japan aftermarket parts, but also for their blog, Real JDM. Unlike other companies, keeping things authentic is what this company is all about and if you read through their blog, you'll either see/read about their project cars or thoughts about the automotive industry, which is not doing so well today. You'll rarely come across blogs that talk about sensitive subjects and speak the truth, which is why I personally consider Bulletproof as one of the best companies and blogs out there today. Their 11th Anniversary meet held at K1 Speed in Torrance, CA yesterday was a day for those who followed Bulletproof for a long time or recent fans like me, knowing what was good and being supportive with originality . Although there weren't a crazy amount of cars like local night meets, this meet was more of quality than quantity.

Going to car shows are filled with unexpected surprises, such as coming across cars you've never seen before. You guys have seen two Random Nightlight features so far, Jon Sibal's Dodge Challenger and Import Fashion's G35, from last week's event, and this one I'm about to feature will be the last and personally my favorite one from all the cars that were present at Slammed Society Showcase hosted by Fatlace.

In the states, it's not like Japan where you walk for a good mile or so at a busy location and come across a highly modified or rare vehicle. Probably the only way for this to happen is to visit a shop that specializes in Imports or even better, go to a major car show. Last week was that day when I was in awe seeing some beautiful cars and the one that caught my attention after walking each row was this rare Skyline BNR34 built by NISMO Omori Factory presented by Fuji Auto.

One event I missed out on few weeks ago was this meet I attended last year hosted by Marcus Cooke, a photographer for Canibeat and an owner of a sick G35. You'll probably be seeing a feature on his ride pretty soon, so I don't want to talk much about it, but Marcus started this meet few years ago after an idea of bringing all G35 owners together at one location to have a chillaxing time checking out other G35s and meeting new people. You might think this meet won't be too big because it is pretty much a model specific meet, but attending GTG II last year, I have to say this meet had the sickest G35s from California. Because I attended another event on this day, our editor Edgar Lozoya took my place and did an awesome job with coverage.

The lack of sleep during this past weekend is still affecting my week, but the excitement and fun I had at Motion Auto Show feels as if it never ended. You just get that feeling if an event was awesome and I rarely go through that phase after an event. I'm not trying to over-exaggerate myself just because of all the hype that's been going around. If you were present, you know what I'm talking about.
I've been in this scene for only a year now and going to events/meets every weekend made me understand more about how things go around in the automotive community. When it comes down to events, I've been to some that were really unorganized to a point where staffs were acting unprofessional, but it's events like Motion Auto Show that makes my hobby worthwhile. Big ups to Pro-Motion Distributing and all the staffs at the event, doing a great job from the start to end.
 

Event Coverage: Formula D/Fatlace 1of1: Title Fight (Part 1)

Probably the most intense and over-crowded event in California, Irwindale Speedway held the final round of Formula D with the top drifters all around the world. But before I get into depth about the drifting event, I want to share some amazing hellaflush/stance rides in California. For every Formula D, we can't forget about the collaborating crew, Fatlace.
The top cars are chosen to show their rides like every other FD event, but yesterday was more meaningful for all the participants because of the massive amount of spectators, well-known media blog photographers, and obviously, watching the final round of Formula D.

Event Coverage: The Pursuit 2

October seems like the month when all the events are forced to happen.
The month just started and already, there were three events on Sunday.
For those who check the sites status on Facebook, you guys knew I was planning to go to 3 events, and yes, I did.
If you guys want it, I get it!

Out of the year, 'The Pursuit' is the largest Lexus show that happens in SoCal. I don't know where it took place last year, but this year, it was at Irwindale Speedway, the same place where the Scion show occured.
The turnout was amazing and I'm speculating more than 300+ cars showed up.
Never seen so many VIP's in one show and I'm pretty sure the AutoFashion event will have more, but for a Lexus show, seems like 20~30% were VIP cars, which is the reason why I enjoyed walking around taking pictures.
It's not an everyday opportunity to see all types/models of Lexus's coming from different states to show their car and drag race. As much as I enjoyed the show, the amount of spectators present was great and they enjoyed it as well.

Event Coverage: 7Stock Coverage

On Saturday, I had to cover 2 events and a photoshoot for my blog and juststance.com. Really long day, but I had a lot of fun. As you guys know, 7stock was going on at Irvine and it was huge! Most of the shows that are dedicated for a certain company has a good turnout. For the Scion event that happend at Longo, more than 300 cars showed up and the result for 7stock was pretty much the same. The whole parking lot of Mazda North America Corporate HQ Center was full of Mazda's. Almost all the rotaries in SoCal showed up. Even people from out of states came as well.

I took photos of rotaries that were modded to my liking because there were too many cars and half of them were just stock. I took a different step when editing the photos for this event. I added a lot of vibrance and it came out ... pretty bad :) but hope you guys like it.
