Being in the scene for more than 2 years now, I have encountered numerous "types" of cars; from track to fitted, almost everything in the scene today. Of course I appreciate every type ...except ones that have fake intercoolers and fake blow-off valves that make your car look like piece of shit :) One style I really loved from the beginning was VIP style cars. Many might think VIP cars are all about slamming them to the ground with extreme fitment, but let me tell you, there is much more to it.

The debate about VIP style has been going on forever. Personally, I don't think there is an exact definition of VIP style. If there was a standard for what a VIP style car should be, then I'm pretty dam sure almost every car out there that fixes up their car in a VIP style way would be all the same. I personally think the "details" make up a VIP style car.

Well today, this coverage post is not to discuss about what is VIP style or not, but to show you guys how strong the VIP community is in Japan by posting up a coverage of one of the biggest VIP car shows called Sessions Platinum VIP, a show that is hosted by a VIP shop called Sessions. Like always, the show was held at Fuji Speedway. You will encounter numerous cars here and will realize the people in this show have a passion for VIP style cars. I have looked through the pictures Charles sent me last week and was shocked to see some of these cars going over the limit of fitment and the details that were put into it.

So I'm back again with some coverage to share with you guys today. I know the blog has been quiet these days, but that's because I've been studying almost every single day and was not active during this past 1~2 months. Last week was also Wekfest in San Francisco, the biggest car show in California, and everyone that I know of was preparing for the show, so SoCal was pretty dam quiet. All I saw on Facebook were updates regarding Wekfest and it was killing me because I couldn't attend it! There were some priorities I needed to take care of, so sorry guys for not being able to cover Wekfest :/ I'll keep you guys updated on facebook with all the coverages on the event once I take a look at them, but so far, I haven't seen any other than MotorMavens.
While not trying to think about Wekfest SF and seeing if any other event or meet was happening in SoCal, I realized BP VIP was having another meet at the place where they had it last time. It was definitely one of those meets I didn't expect a big turnout because of Wekfest, but I wanted to meet up with my friends and check out some rides.

It's about time to share with you guys my favorite rides from Southern California. There were a few qualifications that needed to be met before I decided which cars deserved some recognition or already did, but worth another one. I can think of a few right now that are ridiculously gorgeous, but to me, it wasn't about what kind of parts a car had or which team it represented. My choices were based off on activeness, quality of the car, and attitude of the car owner. It might seem as if I'm going a bit overboard here, but I personally think that's what makes a car known and recognized by many enthusiasts. I'm not saying fully built show cars aren't worth a feature on Night Import or any blog/site. Of course those cars will be featured and get recognized, but the props really goes to the ones that actually bring out their show built cars to meets/shows to represent their team or just themselves. Please don't take this to heart to all of ya'll who own spectacular cars. I love em! which is why I'm going to write another article with cars I think are just way over the top!
Some of these rides you are about to see were seen numerous times on my blog, but if this is your first time visiting this page or haven't been updated with my articles and features, it will be worth your time and give you somewhat of an idea of what kind of cars I truly like. I usually post a car photo as a cover, but because this post is somewhat special to me, I tried to keep that suspense and mystery for those who visit my site daily.

Only those who know Alvin, owner of Import Fashion, knew about the transformation his G35 was going through. Actually, let me take that back; even those who knew Alvin had no idea what kind of a makeover was planned for his car. I've personally known Alvin for about less than year now and seen his car only once before it went to the shop. He was also my photography buddy at SEMA 2010 and that's even when his car was stored in the garage. But all of those who were active back in the days when HIN was booming knew about Alvin's ride because of its looks and uniqueness.
Finally, the long awaited G35 is born again with an even sexier, catchier, and stylish look that no other car can even dare to imitate. Here is Import Fashion's baby, Gina.

One event I missed out on few weeks ago was this meet I attended last year hosted by Marcus Cooke, a photographer for Canibeat and an owner of a sick G35. You'll probably be seeing a feature on his ride pretty soon, so I don't want to talk much about it, but Marcus started this meet few years ago after an idea of bringing all G35 owners together at one location to have a chillaxing time checking out other G35s and meeting new people. You might think this meet won't be too big because it is pretty much a model specific meet, but attending GTG II last year, I have to say this meet had the sickest G35s from California. Because I attended another event on this day, our editor Edgar Lozoya took my place and did an awesome job with coverage.

I was exhausted after the long hours of walking and taking photos on Saturday and it hit me strongly on Sunday even after sleeping for 6 hours, which is actually pretty good compared to how much I ordinarily sleep. This weekend was just way too hectic because of so many events going on, but for some reason, I don't want to miss any of them! Gas price is rising like a mofo and my car is driving like shit, but there's something inside me that wakes me up early in the morning, check the event schedule, take a quick shower, grab the car keys, and head toward an event.
My plan on Sunday was to cover Dubfest at Irwindale and head to this meet, but because of a sudden schedule to meet someone near where Dubfest was, I didn't want to take two trips and waste gas...you have to give me some slack because I drove 5 hours in total on Saturday -_-; Luckily, our editor Edgar Lozoya made it to this meet and he took his camera, so a 'thank you' to Edgar for his coverage!

The hot summer weather is continuing in Southern California and car events/meets are still happening every week! There were two events happening on the same day and time, but our photographer Jay Peña was able to cover the other event, which will be posted tomorrow or Wednesday.
While Jay was doing his thing, I attended a meet introduced by a few friends of mine, happening at Fontana Nissan dealership. Most of the events/meets I attended at a dealership did not have a good turnout and the cars that participate are usually the ones I've seen at least once; however, this meet was far better and I would say one of the best meets I've ever attended because it was more of quality than quantity.

Encore was happening in the later afternoon last Saturday, so I decided to head out to a small but local meet put together by an automotive repair company, CarZone. There were several meets happening on this day but because of a coverage request I received from CarZone a few weeks ago, I kept my promise and made it out.
According to some of my friends, CarZone has been in the Nissan and Infiniti scene for quite a long time and have great service with reasonable prices when it comes to repairing, oil changes, etc. I wouldn't have even bother saying this because it seems like I'm trying to tell you guys to go here, but close friends of mine owning nice cars and saying positive things about this shop means they do an outstanding job.

I'm still sore from all the walking and squatting last Saturday at Hellaflush VIII and It's JDM yO!'s 1 yr. Anniversary meet, but still, nothing stopped me from doing coverage for other meets and events. I always schedule out which ones to go to before a week or so, and the priority goes to the ones that support us online or offline. Last Sunday, our supporters Infest had their first meet for Infiniti and Nissans, but opened to other makes and models as well.

This weekend was really packed with events. It seems like February is the month when major car shows start and choosing the right one to go to is just a difficult decision to make. You seriously want to attend every single one because every event is worth the time. On Saturday, I was able to attend and show my ride at Extreme Autofest/Remix's event at San Diego. Today, I was about to go to WEKFEST early in the morning, but decided to stay and attend Nismolism at Cal State Fullerton.

This event was pretty special in some way because it was aiming for a Guinness World Record; the most Nissans and Infiniti. If I do recall correctly, I think the MC said 250+ Nissans. I have no clue if it actually broke the record, but there were tons of cars showing and a line of spectators before the car show started.

First of all, I have to give props to Marcus Cooke, photographer for Canibeat and the one who created this meet since last year.

I've never been to such a meet with so many G's, Sedans to Coupes, and some other models as well. Definitely the sickest G's around CA came to support the GTG and I can say the meet was a huge success.
The cops killed the hype at the end, which was very disappointing, but I'm speculating all the guys who participated had a great time.

On-site coverage's is what I'm attempting to do these days. You don't want to miss the opportunity of taking photos of a car that you won't probably see again. It's fresh, new, and something different for many import fans and I'm glad I did a quick photoshoot with this G35 coupe owned by PJ from VIP Modular Wheels and Platinum VIP.

Event Coverage: Formula D/Fatlace 1of1: Title Fight (Part 1)

Probably the most intense and over-crowded event in California, Irwindale Speedway held the final round of Formula D with the top drifters all around the world. But before I get into depth about the drifting event, I want to share some amazing hellaflush/stance rides in California. For every Formula D, we can't forget about the collaborating crew, Fatlace.
The top cars are chosen to show their rides like every other FD event, but yesterday was more meaningful for all the participants because of the massive amount of spectators, well-known media blog photographers, and obviously, watching the final round of Formula D.

Event Coverage: FYC Cruise/BBQ Coverage

FYC Cruise/BBQ was pretty darn awesome today.
I rolled out with Noel (owner of the G35 on SSR MS1's) to the first location, Alamitos Park @ Long Beach. Not a lot of cars were there, so I was like.. "o man...hope a lot of cars show up.." but after 10 minutes or so, cars were just keep coming and coming from stocks to VIP. Even cops showed up and was running license plate #'s, which was a PITA to stay quiet while rolling out. Half of us went into another parking location to avoid the cops and when one car was trying to go over those spike attatched bumps to head to our final location, his car got stucked! :D (Hellaflush approved!) That's when 4~5 cops came into the lot. Luckily, all of us went out with no problem and the guy's car that got stuck on that bump came without a ticket. So basically, the cops were pretty cool :)

Another situation happend while heading to the park. The wagon belonging to Simple Wheel Werks broke down! and it happend in the middle of the freeway! O man...but overall, event was awesome. Great turn out for a first cruise/bbq meet.
