I finally took some time to update my blog. Sorry for being a lazy ass during these past few weeks. I won't make any excuses this time, so let me just take you guys directly to our today's coverage, covered by our photographer in Japan, Charles Zee Zayas. Not too long ago, Charles visited Tokyo, Japan to check out a car meet. You guys should know by now how crazy a car meet can get in Japan, so let's get on with the photos.

Night Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

It's been a long time since I went to a car meet here in SoCal. Many of you guys already know I've been busy with work during these past few months, so my activity in the car scene has been diminishing. But as mentioned in my previous articles, Night Import is only a hobby, not a career, so don't be expecting too much this year because this actual blog will not be updated as it used to be.....actually...don't believe me because I tend to be more active when I say depressing things :)
So last week, I was busy having too much fun starting from Thursday to Saturday. When I mean "fun", I'm talking about going out at night time..and.. well.. I don't want to get too specific. I was way too tired on Sunday and decided to stay at home, but I got a call from JP, owner of the Cressida from BP VIP, asking if I wanted to come out to a meet at City of Industry. It was a car meet called Puente Hills Dealer Showcase hosted by Prestige Marketing. If you've been updated with my blog since last year, you should know Prestige has been hosting several meets at dealerships in City of Inudstry because of not worrying about the usual problems many face when hosting a meet. So far, I've been to almost every meet they've hosted except one or two. I forgot why I missed the others, but either way, when I told myself I would rest, I said to myself, "fuk it" and decided to head out after dropping off my brother.

Night Import: Photography and Words by William Lee
It feels like my life is getting busier every week because of needing to do several things within a time period. I'm feeling old now as well because sooner than later, I'll be hitting the age of 25. My apology to some of you guys who are older than me and had to read what I just wrote, but you should know that aged-feeling once you pass 21. Blah~ anyways, out of nowhere, I realized I needed to be more involved with the automotive scene. It's not to the point where I need to attend 3 meets or events on one day, but just going out there. I felt as if I needed to bring something more to the table so that people can look up to Night Import or just appreciate it more than other blogs out there. Naw~ I'm not trying to be competitive. All of the bloggers or just blogs in general should be a family rather than hate on each other. You know what I mean? Most of the stuff I post up on my blog doesn't have that exclusiveness yet, but one day, and I know for sure that day will come soon, Night Import will be your automotive source for features and coverages v(^-^)v
Last week, while thinking about what to do before heading to a KBBQ session with a few well-known photographers, I headed out to this meet called Spring Kickoff, which was at Racer's Edge Karting in Burbank, CA. I heard it was organized by Garrett, but not 100% sure. This event was a mix of a car show and meet because it sort of had the vibe of a car show. I'm talking about vendors being present and the actual Go Karting place being opened for spectators and participants. There were no trophies, but people had an opportunity to participate in the raffling.

NightLife | Night Import's "Collaboration" Meet
March 2, 2012
Night Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

It's been around a year and 3 months since the official release of Night Import to the public. Starting out with knowing the basics as an automotive enthusiast, I've studied cars as if I was reading a medical book, trying to memorize every single make and model out there, along with its pros and cons. On top of that, getting to know the aftermarket companies in the US and Japan to see what they brought to the automotive table. I've been to more than 250 meets/events last year to learn and understand the community, and throughout those times, cars became a permanent part of my life.
Getting to know cars was obviously a priority as a blogger, but what I realized through those busy times of doing coverage and going to events was not only the cars but the importance of people. It's the people in the scene today that makes this car scene enjoyable and memorable. I started out without knowing anyone. Just Stance was the first blog I started as a photographer, but even back then, I didn't know anyone because the site's main traffic source was from the east coast. After deciding to have my own blog, it's then when things changed tremendously. The random people I came across at meets/events became friends and through those friends, I was introduced to various things in the automotive world. Last year, my blog had its first meet at JIC Magic. With only 2 weeks of notice, the company's lot was filled with cars. It was a small gathering of enthusiasts and I couldn't be any happier.
This year, I wasn't planning on doing a meet or an event. The pressure and stress one gets by organizing one is something I observed last year and I didn't want to go through it. I mean..it's all good if you have a good turnout or just a few of your close friends showing up and have fun, but having to find an area where cops won't bother you is like the worst task to deal with. Long story short, I came across an underground parking structure that belonged to a close friend of mine in the car scene. If you guys went to my meet, then you should know it was a part of Descanso Spa. If you didn't come, it's in a small town called Tujunga, CA. When I first saw this place, I was speechless! The lot was pretty dam big and had great lighting. The owner and I had like a 5 minute talk and he said I was more than welcome to borrow the lot for a day. Even after hearing the good news, I was still undecided about having a meet, but because many of you guys asked for it, I made it happen.

Random NightLife | Meet at Umihotaru
January 1, 2012
Night Import: Words by William Lee | Photography by Charles Zee Zayas

Only a few places in Japan are known for their car meets, and one location that's still known for their turnouts is Umihotaru. If a meet gets raided at Daikoku Futo, this is the 2nd location where everyone comes to. Few days ago, our photographer Charles dropped by to check it out. As expected, the meet was overwhelmed with beautiful cars.

Random NightLife | Memorable Car Shows and Meets of 2011

Night Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

What a great year! Wow! I'm sitting down in front of my study table, typing this article while thinking about all the events and meets I've been to in 2011. Yea~ I know it sucks that the End of the World is coming soon, and because it is, it's time for me to choose the meets and car shows I've been to that were memorable and enjoyable. I've plugged in my external hard drive to see what's been done throughout this year and holy hell, the hard drive decided to shut down on me and all the saved files disappeared. Luckily, my brain had a back-up storage system that only saved automotive related events and not school or friends, which might make me sound like an ass, but for my blog and you guys, it's something to definitely appreciate. I took some time to think about how many I've been to and the amount really did exceed my expectations. If I counted correctly and only included the ones that were automotive related, I've been to 150+ car shows + meets. My aspirations were not to attend the most meets and become competitive with other bloggers, but it was that unexplainable force that pulled me into a world that I couldn't escape. No matter how much I tried, avoiding the temptations to drive my slammed Scion tC to anywhere in Southern California was not happening. That's how much I loved and still love what I do as a hobby and will continue on for myself and for all you fans out there that truly appreciate Night Import.

Special Coverage | CarsxHype x AutoRND meet
October 26, 2011
Night-Import: Photography by Andy Nguyen | Words by William Lee & Andy Nguyen

Few weeks ago, our photographer Andy Nguyen attended a meet hosted by both CarsxHype and AutoRND. I don't even remember when this meet happened, but I know a few friends of mine work for CarsxHype and they've been very active in the scene. It's good to see two sites collaborating to organize a meet because it shows how these guys do what they do out of passion rather than fame or greed. Thumbs up!

Special Coverage | Eagle Rock Plaza 2nd Car Meet
October 1, 2011
Night-Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

Yesterday night will be one of those memorable moments of my time being in the automotive scene exploring car meets because of going through 6+ bumps in Eagle Rock plaza that literally ripped off my front lip because of being too low and having to come out of my car every time I went over one because my bumper fell off, but also because I attended a car meet held at a permitted lot!
This was my first time attending this meet after hearing others the 1st one was epic, so I didn't know what to expect. O yea, just a heads up, from now on my coverage on events or meets will have a title on the cover photo. I usually just post a photo that goes along with the whole event/meet, but seems like some of you guys liked/wanted a title on it, so look forward to seeing poor title fonts (^_^)v.

Special Coverage | G35 Sedan GTG III
September 29, 2011
Night-Import: Photography by Edgar Lozoya | Words by William Lee

One event I missed out on few weeks ago was this meet I attended last year hosted by Marcus Cooke, a photographer for Canibeat and an owner of a sick G35. You'll probably be seeing a feature on his ride pretty soon, so I don't want to talk much about it, but Marcus started this meet few years ago after an idea of bringing all G35 owners together at one location to have a chillaxing time checking out other G35s and meeting new people. You might think this meet won't be too big because it is pretty much a model specific meet, but attending GTG II last year, I have to say this meet had the sickest G35s from California. Because I attended another event on this day, our editor Edgar Lozoya took my place and did an awesome job with coverage.

Event Coverage | SoCal Summer Daze Car Show
September 26, 2011
Night-Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

This event hosted by Elite-AutoSports with the help from AJP Distributors and JDM Sport was one that I was excited to attend. All the staffs from the three companies are a very good friend of mine, and knowing these guys put so much effort into promoting an event, I knew this was going to be one of the biggest events for this year. What made me even more stoked was my family, Low N Slow, finally going out to an event as a team! I'll talk more about the cruise and meet-up later on, but back on subject, I want to take some time to talk about the three companies.
Elite-AutoSports is well known for hosting their monthly meets at Krispy Kreme in Burbank, CA. Out of all the meets here in SoCal, the one hosted by Elite is and was the biggest one. Few years ago, the Burbank meet was legendary because of thousands of cars attending and filling the whole plaza. After some incidents of immature drivers ruining the meet, it was closed down by cops and was thought to never happen again. However, Elite was patient and was waiting for the right time to host it once again. Last week was its final meet of the year and from what I've heard, it was massive! Once again, big ups to Elite-AutoSports for bringing the automotive community together.
JDM Sport and AJP Distributors are companies I've mentioned to you guys a few times throughout this year because of their activeness in the scene. I've never seen such a company participating at so many meets and events. I don't really remember how I met JDM Sport, but I do know head staff, Lee Ho, was an awesome guy to talk to from the beginning. He is a major supporter for my blog and always tries to bring up his supporters. Thumbs up!

Special Coverage | LTBMW End of Summer Meet
September 25, 2011
Night-Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

It's that time now where I'm attending all these events and meets for the second time, meaning my hobby has reached its year. I'm actually surprised and at the same time, proud of myself because of being dedicated with my blog and going out there to shoot cars rather than staying home every week and post random shit. There were definitely times when I did want to quit and go with something more important in life, but all in honesty, just seeing cars made my day. It didn't matter if I had a dslr or point-n-shoot camera. This community is simply amazing and non-comparable to others because not is it only about cars, but the positive attitude of people. There were occasions when this wasn't true, but overall, I think that's one of the main reasons why I've been going on and on and slowly upgrading my skills with photography to bring you guys the best of the best.
From what I remember, (LTBMW) LTBMW's 2010 meet was the time when I realized how much work I needed to do. I was very active during that time period, but it wasn't all about going to events and taking simple shots. I learned a lot from experienced photographers, especially from 1013MM who promotes this meet and sent me an invitation to go to this meet once again to cover for my blog. I did not know 1013MM personally back then, but do remember talking to him for a few seconds and that was it. Since then, 1013MM and I have been in contact continuously and built up a friendly relationship. Once I arrived to this meet, we were walking around and talking about which wheels were replicas, who were douschebags, etc. Anyways, we had a good time with our conversation while covering the event, so let's get on with it.

September 3, 2011
Night-Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

This past week was probably one of those weeks I've ever been active in focusing only on local car meets here in Southern California. Most of you guys already know I got invited to a meet in Glendale, CA on Tuesday, which is covered at the bottom of this post. I also attended a weekly car meet at Krispy Kream Donuts located in Rowland Heights on Wednesday, but did not cover it yet because of forgetting to take my camera. Yesterday, I went to one of my favorite meets in Alhambra, CA hosted by the 626 Drift Crew. Also known as Cha for Tea meet, I remember this being my 2nd meet after Low N Slow's meet few months ago when I got into the car scene. One of the reasons why I enjoy going to this one is because of the people more than cars. I do not know every single person who goes to this meet, but I would say most of my friends were made from here than any other meets I've been to in the past. Trying to relieve the stress and pressure with so many random shit I've been going through, I came out a bit early and met up with EuroTuner star Jose to roll together.

While I was busy at Sideway Sundays, our photographer Nick made it out to an annual Lexus meet at a Lexus dealership located in Westminister, CA. I've actually came across this event post on the Lexus forums and was planned to attend, but because I had to support an event our site was a part of, I missed out! Looking through the photo coverage, seems like this meet was off the hook.

Special Coverage | Raceline & Super Street Meet
August 2, 2011
Night-Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

It's been a busy week going to work and managing the site almost every day, but when the weekend comes by, you guys know I'll be out there covering an automotive related event. I was pretty hesitant about going to one of the biggest Euro car shows here in SoCal called Big SoCal Euro Gathering held at San Diego, CA, but because of some issues I had with the car, I decided to head up to Raceline/Super Street's car meet at Fontana, CA, the same day when NASA had their own event.
I'm not familiar with any of the staffs from Super Street, except Joey from The Chronicles because I went up to him during It's JDM yO!'s One Year Anniversary Meet to compliment his site. He probably forgot who I was, but I did see him doing his own coverage for his site, so make sure to visit The Chronicles.
Enough with my loneliness and let's talk about this meet hosted by Raceline and Super Street.

Special Coverage | Pro-Motion Grand Opening / Motion Auto Show Mini Meet

Night-Import: Photos by Jay Ebue and William Lee | Words by William Lee

How's it going Night-Import fans~! Ok, I just ate too much Ice Cream in the morning so I'm a bit hyped up right now, but there's nothing wrong with writing up a coverage in this mood right?
I was actually in an opposite mood yesterday, but it got better once I arrived to Pro-Motion's Grand Opening / Motion Auto Show Mini-Meet. Most of us know that Pro-Motion Distributing is the largest distributors here in Southern California since 1989 and they have a long-time history with their past show called SpoCom; however, this year was a turn around for the company and now, they launched a new show with a new venue called Motion Auto Show.
This mini-meet was organized to introduce automotive enthusiasts to Pro-Motion Distributing and for early registration into Motion Auto Show, so if you showed up yesterday, you got one heck of a deal!

Special Coverage | Guppy House Meet by 1013MM

I remember seeing the Guppy House Meet event page on facebook a few weeks ago and realized it was being hosted by a good friend of mine, John Zhang from 1013MM Photography. I'm pretty sure most of you guys know John by his amazing photo coverages for Canibeat, but that's not the only site he shoots for when it comes to cars. Also being a photographer for HRE wheels and many others, yesterday's meet was John's first time ever hosting his own meet and the turnout was absolutely exceptional. Not knowing John for a long time but having a good impression since the first day I met him, his favor of asking me to promote the meet on forums didn't make me think twice to say yes. At least 50 forums were noticed about this meet and with great responses on each forum, more than 200 cars showed up, overcrowding Guppy House's parking lot. If you don't know about Guppy House, you'll have to try out their foods because from what I've heard, they got some good Shaved Ice and other goodies.
Special Coverage | Night-Import x JIC Magic Garage Sale & Meet

Night-Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

It's been about 7 months now since I official announced Night-Import to the public. The feelings I had about cars back then is still the same, which is why I'm almost at every meet and event here in Southern California. I'm not trying to sound like a cocky person, but when I look at myself now and how I was back then, nothing really changed. Some people built relationships through cars, but for me, it was all about going to events and meeting the same people over and over. I don't want to say it was my photography skills that led to relationships with people because I still think I lack the major components of being an appreciated photographer.
Either way, I thought it was about time we hosted a meet and luckily, with the help of JIC Magic Suspension, it happened.
As most of you guys know, I did an interview with JIC a few weeks ago and after, Jon, the owner of JIC, showed me a decent sized lot behind the body shop where a small meet could be held. I always kept this in mind, but had no idea when to host a meet because of major shows happening on almost every weekend. But when JIC announced a clearance sale through facebook, I took that opportunity to host a meet with JIC, which is why we promoted this meet as a meet + garage sale. Today was that day and I couldn't be any happier.

Night-Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

It's been a pretty busy week for me going to meets and doing interviews with a few companies here in Southern California. Surprisingly, no meets/events happened on Saturday that were close by, so it was a day to rest and edit some photos from previous coverages. At the same time, I was excited about JDM Sport's first meet and greet at AJP Distributor's HQ, the West Coast HQ/Distributors for JDM Sport, that happened yesterday. As most of you guys know by now, I go to meets almost every weekend or even 3 times a week depending on what goes on, and every time when I walk around doing my thing, I bump into Lee Ho, marketing/PR director of JDM Sport. This guy has been active than any other friend/company staff I've known since he officially announced the opening of JDM Sport. Knowing his activeness and relationships with other people in the automotive industry, I knew this meet was going to have a huge turnout and as expected, more than 200 cars showed up!
Claim Ho from Firm400 brought out the entertainers and Johnny Ho called up the famous food trucks, Dos Chinos and DogZilla, to participate to sell their insanely good food.

April 20, 2011
Night-Import: Photography and Words by William Lee

The continuous success of OC (Orange County) Food Truck Car Meet since day one left a positive impression to every automotive enthusiast and the popularity of this meet reached its peak. It's more than the facebook invites, but the spread of word that makes everyone know about this meet to come and eat foods from the top Food Trucks in SoCal. As always, Johnny Ho hosted this meet, but for the first time, Team SupaStar collaborated with John to re-launch Tab Tuesday, a well-known car meet that started years ago. Because of the two teams helping out each other to create the 4th OC Food Truck Car Meet, the turnout was absolutely amazing.

Skunk2 had a great meet last year, Skunk2 Unmeet 1.0, and when I mean by great meet, I'm talking about the turnout, quality of cars, and behavior. I had my hopes up for this years meet, driving for about 2 hours in traffic, but after arrival, it wasn't as 'good' as I expected.
