This past weekend was my first time attending a drifting event at the famous Willow Springs Raceway. Located at a deserted area in Rosamond, CA and being able to accommodate hundreds of cars, this Raceway has a long history with many drifters and racers.
On Sunday, early in the morning, two events were going down at Willow Springs; Redline Time Attack by Speed Ventures and the 626 Drift Crew drifting @ The Balcony. The Balcony is a separate track area up in the mountains purely for drifting. You can definitely see tire marks everywhere and the main track itself is built up with tire marks.
The photo is not too clear, but you can see a glimpse of the track and its different cement color compared to the outter area of the track.
The event itself was suppose to start at 7am, but only a few members/non-members from the 626 Drift Crew showed up.
By the way, the 626 Drift Crew was basically started by a group of guys living in the 626 area who were in love with drifting. If you remember our previous video post of 3 guys tandem drifting on the freeway, those guys are part of the 626 Drift crew. If you're a drifting fanatic and know about what goes around in the drifting community, you will know about the 626 Drifting guys.
Most of the cars that were present weren't daily driven. There are, however, a few cars out there that are driven every single day, but mostly, more than half of the drifting cars are just meant to be driven on tracks.

Look familiar? I was trying to recall where I saw this Subaru, and realized it was parked in front of the illest store at Los Angeles when they had a grand opening.

Jason was telling me the owner of this car started drifting not too long ago and improved a lot throughout the months of practicing. We all got to start somewhere, right?
Because the track was located up in the mountains, the weather was freezing!
After going down to the Redline Time Attack session and coming back up to The Balcony, more cars showed up, one of them being this RX-7 FC.

Car was looking sexy, the drifting was sexy. This guy was drifting like a pro.

This Corolla AE86 was absolutely stunning. It had its own unique color and all the equipments and the looks of a drifting car.
I believe I've seen a similar looking car that's daily driven and drifted. Not too sure if this is the one, but the S14 was sounding MEAN!
The rest of the photos I'm about to post are from the drifting session. Taking photos of this event was awesome, but it got even better when I was able to get in one of the cars (Thanks Jason!).
