IDRC (Import Drag Racing Circuit) started since 1998 and the popularity amongst racers is at its highest since the opening day. Like every other automotive sport, such as Drifting and Rallying, Drag Racing is also a popular category to many automotive enthusiasts.
Most of the cars that came to participate and compete were fully built to race in a 1/4 drag strip and some were even outrageously built to rip up the track. Within IDRC were 4 shootouts; Supra's, Evo's, Subaru's, and Drift Cars, but it was more about the Honda's when it came to competition.
If you remember our coverage from last year, 2010 IDRC West Coast Nationals, the competitiveness grew even stronger and cars that competed last year were built even better for this year's event.

DSPORT collaborated with IDRC for this year as well to host a car show with a different title called "Fancy Fed Car Show", and we will be covering the car show section in Part II.

The weather was MUCH better for this year's event. I remember showing my car here last year before our site was officially launched to the public and I had a difficult time keeping myself hydrated for several hours.
Anyways, cars that came to compete were in their beast modes.

Arriving at 7:30am, majority of the cars present were participants for the race, but I spotted this clean fitted IS in front of the car show area.

I took some time walking around taking some photos and some of these cars were amazing.

Unlike other automotive sports, the appearance of these cars isn't that much of an importance, but the parts under the hood are what matters the most.

This old gen Corolla caught my attention in an instant. So far, seeing two old gen Corolla's  and even a Datsun 510 featured on Speedhunters running on a F20C engine, it's always impressive to see these cars running on powerful motors. If I remember correctly, this car got 1st place in some category.

IMG_7963
Massive Turbos and inlets on hoods for exhaust pipes to peek out was a repetitive scene around the pit area.

IMG_7964

IMG_7965
Some cars even had Drag Racing Parachute. Cars going over 150mph  are required to have one according to NHRA.

It was a surprise to spot a R32 Skyline. Some said it was suppose to race, but because of some technical issues, it was parked with the show cars.

IMG_7969
A few Supra's came out for the Shootout competition.

Definitely a competitor you do not want to mess around with.

IMG_7978
Another surprise with this S15. I had no clue what was under the hood, but it did compete with the others.

Engine bay of an EG.

IMG_7986
Super clean Datsun at the tech area. Pretty sure the car performed well on the strip.

IMG_7988
Other rides at the tech area.

IMG_8002
While some cars were gutted out with no visual appearances, this EG was looking pretty good on Racing Harts.

Miata running on a RB? Not sure.

For a second, I thought the car had the same wheels as the trailer.

IMG_8013
Burnout! Just playing.

IMG_8016
This Mazda RX-3 Savanna was a beast! Its first run was under 9 seconds.

IMG_8017
Another impressive car was this xB from Scion Racing.

IMG_8025
You like?

IMG_8032
Out from the Pit area and now to the dragstrip.

IMG_8033
Spotted a lady in a cambered Civic getting ready to race. Charismatic.

IMG_8035
Monster!

IMG_8037
One lesson I learned today; do not mess around with Beetles.

IMG_8038
Here's the lady I was talking about before.

IMG_8041

IMG_8042
Tons of EG's at the event.

IMG_8043
I felt bad for this car. When it was about to launch, the transmission blew and all the fluid leaked out.

IMG_8047
Don't mess.

Here's that clean Datsun we saw earlier.

IMG_8064
and its match up couldn't look any meaner.

IMG_8066
Some 'vehicles' were doing solo runs because of the huge HP difference.

IMG_8067
Tire smoke in the air and the place was gloomy in a matter of seconds.

IMG_8070
Tire pressure check.

IMG_8074
Shooting paint balls through those pipes.

IMG_8076

IMG_8077
How sticky is the track? There you go.

IMG_8054
Back to the Pit area and some cars were still being prepped.

IMG_8052

IMG_8055

IMG_8056
Huh? What?

IMG_8057
Halloween already?

IMG_8257
Qualifying rounds were starting and I'm now back to the track. This 300ZX was one heck of a competitor.

IMG_8262
I had no clue when the actual shootouts were happening, but some of the Supra's were very impressive.

IMG_8264

IMG_8266
Can you?

IMG_8276
Too much smoke.

IMG_8277
Look who we have hear. The fastest CR-Z in the world, Bisi from Bisimoto came out to race his car.

IMG_8287
There was an issue with the ECU, so the car didn't perform as expected.

IMG_8278
Mustang power.
