Probably the most intense and over-crowded event in California, Irwindale Speedway held the final round of Formula D with the top drifters all around the world. But before I get into depth about the drifting event, I want to share some amazing hellaflush/stance rides in California. For every Formula D, we can't forget about the collaborating crew, Fatlace.
The top cars are chosen to show their rides like every other FD event, but yesterday was more meaningful for all the participants because of the massive amount of spectators, well-known media blog photographers, and obviously, watching the final round of Formula D.
Around 100+ cars showed up, which was a pretty good turnout. I'm not sure how many cars participated last year, but there were enough cars for everyone to see and be amazed. After hellaflush 5, I've never seen so many stanced/hellaflush cars in one event.
Most of the Team Supastar members came to show. It's one of the teams I see very often that get together and have fun at events.
Slammed..I mean hella slammed s13. The winner for the slammedsociety award.
Marcus Cooke from Canibeat. Never met Marcus before, but because I know his car is getting evaluated as of right now on JustStance.com, I realized it was his ride and went up to him to say sup. I know many of you guys are fans of Marcus's photography. His feature is being processed so check out Canibeat.
Mitch's VW on Bentley wheels. It's a common scene in Europe to see their cars on these wheels, but not in the U.S.
Good to see Marc's Bimmer at every event. This ride deserves a media coverage.
Almost every stance related blog was going crazy about this Supra and I totally understand why there was all that hype. Amazing ride.
Took awhile for everyone to enter the show-lot, but everything was organized and the fatlace crew were instructive. Most of the G's entered early and they couldn't look any better.
An Evo that will always be a beast. Probably one of the few Evo's with a wide body, not in CA, but in the U.S.
I've seen numerous pictures of Marcus's ride on the net, but it needs to be seen in person. Interior and engine bay was flawless and the stance was on point. No wonder so many people rate Marcus's G as an inspirational car.
Not too common to see a G on Work Mesiter's.
John's G on Varrstoen's. These wheels aren't the matt finished ones that come from the warehouse. John decided to powdercoat them, but didn't know what finish matched with the car. So who could do the job? Simple Wheel Werks.
I don't remember the exact colors, but it was a mix of black, purple, brown, and other secret ingredients :)
Edgar's purple G on SSR MS1's. He lowered the front a bit more and I HOPE he lowers the back. Either way, sick looking G. John and Edgar's feature will be coming soon!
Way too much poke on the rears, but I give him props for trying to make it work.
Can't forget about InfitWheels. If you're looking for a set of old but classic wheels, you need to hit them up. Their banner is located at the left.
Low N Slow members roll deep at events, but only few came out yesterday. Milt, aka Cambred, was suppose to show up with his new wheel setup, but because of some problems traveling with massive 'camber' *hint hint* he had to stay home and work on the car a bit more.
Alvin's orange G and this Subi were the only ones from Team Hybrid.
If you want to see cars with quality products, definitely a must to check out their team.
The weather was horrible before the week of Formula D. Rain was pouring in almost every city and the hope of a sunny day seemed impossible. Luckily, the weather got much better to the point where everyone was sweating because of the heat.
Black Cressida nicely fitted. One of the classic rides at the show.
S13 on custom barreled steelies. Seen the ride at couple of events.
Hard to believe this Silvia can be driven. The rear lips are almost touching the fenders.
The Silvia's defined Hellaflush yesterday.
Both of the Porsche's were stunning. It wasn't a suprise to see the yellow Porsche on BBS LM's getting the limited 'Hellaflush Approved' sticker.
Turboed Lexus IS on Volk ce28n's.
One of the rides that got a lot of attention. Not your everyday minivan.
First time ever seeing a SMART car modded.
Omar's BB on BBS RS's powdercoated in white.
Ron's bagged truck from Team Supastar. Seems like a lot of people asked him about his ride because Ron was playing around with his air system :)
Another classic. Pretty awesome to see a Trueno rolling on Volk's.
Ever seen a Beetle on Rotiforms and bagged at the same time?
Best Scion of the show. Anthony's BB reppin his own company SB Metal Polishing. Professional in any wheel services.
You can't go wrong with Rotiforms. Very original and true to its design.
Jose's Audi parked in front of the Mobil booth.
I've seen Keith's Accord numerous times and never get tired of it.
Few minutes later, the VIP rides were rolling in.
Have to say this Lexus was my favorite. Looking absolutely sick with VIP Modular wheels and the body paint was ridiculously gorgeous.
Charle's Q! He's trying to go with a new wheel setup so hit him up for his current wheels!
Never knew a Honda and an Acura was in Platinum VIP. Both have potential.
In front of the VIP rides were the Supra's. They were rolling hard!
Mitch's brother on some rare 3 pc forged wheels.
Sticker bombed front lip, chalkboard front hood, and a roof rack. Some cars can't pull it off,but the xB is an exception.
Hellaflush featured Wagon by Rotiforms.
Loving both companies, Rotiforms and Varrstoen's.
Couple of Mazda's at the event.
and finally, the winners
Best Euro and the Best tC winner is at the back left behind the guy wearing the sunglasses.
Best Supra. Owner of the Platinum VIP Supra
The winner of the best slammed, or as yogi announced, 'slammed-society.'
Check back for Formula D/Fatlace 1of1: Title Fight (Part 2), which will cover some models, vendors, and couple of drifting shots.
